Manitoba 44 for 2 wickets in 12 overs On July 1, Manitoba defeated Calgary in a close game Manitoba 166 for 9 wickets in 50 overs Calgary Bowlers: Sudeepta Aurka 3 for 26, Calgary 161 all out in 45.3overs Manitoba bowlers: Waleed Ahmed 2 for 26, Jatinder Matharu 2 for 10, MANITOBA vs. SASKATCHEWAN: …Inter-Provincial preparation, June 20, 2010 On a weekend plagued by rain, and soggy fields [and mosquitoes] Manitoba and Saskatchewan managed to play a 45-over cricket match at Assiniboine Park in preparation for the upcoming Inter-provincial tournament in late July. Batting first Manitoba scored 256 for 5 in 45 overs with two batsmen Zeeshan Siddiqui (64), and Suresh Jayaraman (51) reaching half centuries on a field made heavy by rain. In reply Saskatchewan found the Manitoba bowling difficult to cope with
and could only muster 84 off 30 overs. The guests were treated to a dinner at the Park before returning to Saskatchewan. INTER-PROVINCIAL PREPARATION: MANITOBA TO HOST SASKATCHEWAN JUNE 19, 20
In preparation for the upcoming inter provincial tournament Manitoba will host Saskatchewan June 19, 20 at Assiniboine Park cricket field. The Manitoba teams for Saturday and Sunday are given hereunder.
OUTDOOR STATS POSTED
OUTDOOR CRICKET SEASON BEGINS: TRIAL, LEAGUE AND FRIENDLY GAMES MARK BEGINNING In better than average temperatures and under cloudless skies the outdoor cricket season officially got underway May 15, 16 at the Assiniboine Park cricket field. Two trial games were held in preparation for the upcoming Inter- provincial tournament, the dates of which are yet to be finalized. Both trials produced some fine performances: both games were keenly contested. On Sunday two officially sanctioned League games in the First and Second Divisions got underway with Kingz X1 vs. AICC [South Ground] and Lions 2 vs. MCA U-19 [North] respectively. Kingz XI and MCA U-19 emerged victorious. On Saturday two “friendlies” were played by clubs in the local leagues: Pakistan vs. Seahawks and Cosmos vs. Cosmos Lancers. After the winter and indoor season everyone was filled with enthusiasm and ready to play. INDOOR 6 STATS POSTED
"PREMIER DIVISION" FOR OUTDOOR LEAGUE In an effort to bring about keener competition in the outdoor league the League Competition committee voted to have a Premier Division for 2010. There will be 5 teams in the” premier Division” with the other teams split into two other divisions. This was the major decision taken at the second League Meeting held at Sport Manitoba’s new residence, the Sport for Life Center on March 27, 2010. Players, officials and administrators are looking forward to this new format with great expectations.
INDIA XI… TAVERNERS CC With only a handful of games remaining in the indoor league competitions, India XI CC and Taverners CC have clinched the A and B division titles respectively. Both teams played well on the weekend to achieve victories in both their matches and ensure their first place finish. Congratulations to both teams. FIRST LEAGUE MEETING The first League Meeting in preparation for the 2010 outdoor season was held at Burton Cummings Community Center [BCCC] on Saturday, March 6, 2010 conducted by Keith Deonaraine, the new League Chairman.
