ICC takes 2011 World Cup from Pakistan

DUBAI (AP): Cricket's world governing body has removed Pakistan as a co-host of the 2011 World Cup because of security fears. The decision comes after terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore and killed six police officers and a driver on March 3. The International Cricket Council Board announced on Friday that the uncertain security situation in the country had forced it to take the decision. Pakistan was due to co-host the event with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Four teams qualify for 2011 World Cup

Canada has earned a berth in the 2011 Cricket World Cup despite losing by six wickets to the Netherlands at the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier on Friday. Canada has made three previous visits to the cricket World Cup (1979, 2003 and 2007), exiting in the first round each time while notching just one career win. With the win, the Netherlands also qualified, as did Ireland and Kenya.

The MCA is attempting to reintroduce cricket in Thompson.
In the 60's and 70's cricket thrived in Thompson when there were yearly exchanges between the Thompson team and various teams from Winnipeg.
In the 80's cricket there began to wane because of the relocation of members of the Thompson team.           Click Here For More Info.
