Winnipeg Juniors Cricket Club
I started playing organized cricket at the age of 15 in Winnipeg.
If I was asked to play for another team it would be with Cosmos. Their preparation and organization for practice and games is an example for all teams in the province.
The most challenging bowler for me to play against is Jaggi Gurm from Winnipeg Blues. He’s always given me trouble and got me out a few times.
Vasu Shah for me is the hardest batsman to bowl to. He has all the shots in the book and always puts a price on his wicket, which makes it very difficult to get him out.
My most memorable game/moment playing in Winnipeg would be playing against Winnipeg Blues when I first joined Winnipeg Juniors. We won the game in the last over with 2 wickets remaining. That win gave us the confidence boost we needed to go on and win the division.
As captain of World XI, I would have Allan Donald, Brett Lee, Wasim Akram, Shane Warne and Muttiah Murlitharn as my five international bowlers.
As captain of the World XI, I would have Jaques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardena as my five international Batsmen.
Looking at how the season has been going so far, I believe it will be a very close finish between the Winnipeg Blues and Cosmos for the Premiere division.
Sunny from Winnipeg Blues has been batting very well this season and I predict he will be the best batsman of the Premiere division.
Monty Sharma has been quite sensational with the ball everywhere he has played this summer and I believe he will go on and pick up the most wickets in the Premiere division.
If I could change something about the summer league in Winnipeg, it would have to be the scheduling of T20’s. In provincial tournaments, we mostly play T20’s and the lack of experience hurts team Manitoba. If we wish to get the results we want from these provincial tournaments, we need to schedule more meaningful T20 matches.
